- How Is #SocialMedia Changing The Way We #Communicate
There was once a time when we all used to hang out at coffee shops chat about the various things that went on in our lives. The birth of social networks has changed all that, we still have coffee at coffee shops but with our smartphones and tablets and not really our friends. I remember viewing a very interesting quote on the web that I am not really sure if Einstein said but for as long as I researched the web, there was no source to it. None the less, it’s a very interesting piece of quote that you should read.
I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.
Is thing proving to be true, I don’t know. But the more you try to search for an answer the more obvious it becomes. The aspect that we are living on the web and are not the real world that god created for us. I am writing this post to simply inform others of the con’s that lie with social networks. While social media can be a great source of information and staying connected with families in far off places, they can be addictive and keep you engaged all through the day. I will list some of the very anything that I experience as part of my life and things that I’ve read and heard about on the web.
How Is Social Media Changing The Way We Communicate
As a social media analyst and blogger I am known to spend an average of 16 hours every day in front of my laptop, workstation or even my smartphone. This has changed my life a lot, its changed my life so much that I only talk to my girlfriend via the phone, chat on my laptop and meet her only once a month or so. Now that is crazy, this goes for family and friends as well, my work schedule has taken over my life, where I only talk to friends on Facebook, meet the family on weekends and rarely have time for myself.
Once Private Opinions Are Now Public
This is something that is happening to almost everyone these days. You will find people share personal and private opinions and feeling of emotions that was once to kept a secret on sites like Facebook and Twitter. These networks have become more of a place to vent out your anger, emotions as it provide you a feeling of being heard. They both go hand in hand, not spending enough time with family and friends makes us feel lonely and in turn we turn to social networks so that we can feel that comfort of being heard and spoken to.
Your Facebook Status Can Get You Fired
There are several stories of people being fired because they commented about work or even said something that was their personal opinion on Facebook. Here is an article from Huffington post talking about 13 instances that got people fired for talking on Facebook. Its becoming so common that people think just because they have the right of speak they can badmouth other people. Its important that you keep your opinions to yourself and if you choose to take your opinion to a public forum, ensure that you have checked with concerned authorities if its okay to talk about certain things on the web.
Paparazzi’s Are Losing Their Jobs
I know it’s a weird title for a blog post on marketing. let me tell you that I am excited and intrigued myself to write about this post. Recently I was given an opportunity to analyze the social web and provide insights into how paparazzi are using the social web and how things have changed the game. Not until very recent paparazzi have been making a ton of cash taking private photos of celebrity and well renowned individuals. Today things have changed with the birth of social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Vine, Instagram and so many others.
You might be wondering why and how I can say that. Well here are some interesting information on how Paparazzi’s Are Losing Their Jobs and Social Media Experts Are Taking Over. With the birth of social media we often find celebrities and pop stars loading up photos, videos and what not of themselves and friends. Things have changed drastically with social media, it not only gets more visibility for individuals but also get these celebrities in trouble occasionally.
Social Media Experts Are Taking Over
Social Media Experts Are Being Hired To Scale Social Networks For Images And Videos Of Celebrities. Why, its because with the birth of social networks and smartphones, celebrities have taken to taking self shot photos and videos and are having them published on the web. This is becoming increasing difficult for the tabloid newspapers to get information first. The are no longer looking at relying on paparazzi’s for sneak peaks and wacky videos, but they are hiring social media experts to get the information to them as soon as it hits the web. They are now reporting information more than publishing such content.
Social Media Has Made Us Lonelier Than Ever
We spend so much time on Facebook that we no longer hang out with our friends or family. We rather say hi or share information with them on Facebook, why? cause they are there too. But, that is not the point, the point is that we are all ignoring our daily social activities and are staying indoors all day. We no longer meet up with friends nor take long vacations. This is offering companies opportunities to take over our lives and make us work longer, odd hours, and even holidays. This is bad both for us and for our future generation. In order to make a difference we need to stand up and say stop. Keep ourselves from spending more than an hour in front of a PC when not at work. While I cannot tell you what you need to do I believe you can think for yourself and realize what you are doing.
